Types of Adoption
There are four “types” of adoption – public, private, independent and international. Each carry varying degrees of differences, some legal and some “cultural," but for gay and lesbian individuals, singles and couples the major consideration is how open you are about your life in the home study process. We are sure you have heard this before, but it stands repeating – “You don’t like living a lie in your life; do not start your family on a lie.”
An Introduction to Adoption
For many families wishing to have children, adoption becomes a viable option when biological means are not successful, available or the option of choice. This is especially true for Gay and Lesbian individuals. While currently most children with lesbian parents are biologically linked to one of their parents, adoption is becoming an option for them as well. Men, regardless of their sexual orientation have the option of surrogacy, but often the costs and legal atmosphere can become major hurdles.
