The older the child is the harder it is for them to fit into a family
Misinformation: The older the child is, the harder it is for them to fit into a family.
Reality: Wrong. Most children in the foster care system, regardless of age, simply do not know how to fit into typical functional family unit. In other words a family which isn’t abusive and drug effected. Older children are often very adaptable to a new family situation, mostly out of survival. All too often we see older teens who realize they are about to “age out” of the foster care system with no one there for them. No one to go home to at the holidays, no one to send them a birthday card; these kids are desperately looking for that family they can call their own and “fit into.”
