Advocacy, support and referral
  • 1,034 average number of daily web resource users (professional and families)
  • Each year FLO provides 8 family support events – four quarterly respite events and four family networking and support events
  • FLO averages approximately 110 new inquires per month for resource and agency referral, and more than 500 additional each year from events and educational programs
  • Each month FLO hosts a waiting family support and networking group for pre-adoptive families
  • FLO provides family non-therapeutic support work-groups throughout the year to help families meet parenting challenges
  • Non-therapeutic youth support groups are facilitated throughout the year for GLBT&Q youth, Social skill development skill building, and other specialty topics
  • Phone, video and in person adoption information counseling is available through our adoption buddy support network
  • Each month FLO volunteers generate nearly 200 support hours
Education and Training
  • Each calender year, FLO conducts nearly 500 hours of educational programs for families and professionals
  • FLO's Post Placement program includes 27 hours of additional training for pre and post adoptive and foster families
  • 81% of families taking their P.R.I.D.E. (Parent Resource for Information, Development, and Education) through FLO have the goal of adoption, 19% fostering and 7% are able or willing to provide respite for other families
  • Only 2% of families choose another direction after taking a FLO P.R.I.D.E. training and 78% move forward shortly after their training
Active Recruitment Consulting
  • Approximately 10 foster and adoptive youth are referred to FLO everyday for help finding a family
  • FLO works at least five SAFE GLBT&Q foster youth cases per day
  • Approximately 100 volunteer community outreach hours per month are spent on recruitment education
  • FLO resource information is provided to every foster and adoptive parent taking a WA State P.R.I.D.E. state wide training, regardless of which agency provides the training for GLBT&Q foster youth
  • Each year FLO co-sponsors or attends more than 24 interactive events including National Foster Care Month (May), National Adoption Month (November) activities
  • FLO maintains an active list of more than 100 peer-to-peer respite providers in Western WA
  • FLO is used by private placement agencies, WA State DSHS, AdoptUSKids project, GLBT hotlines, and others for family referral and foster care recruitment
