They don’t want single or gay’s to be foster parents
Unfortunately this can be a true statement depending upon where you live in the country, and even within certain sections of a given state or county. In the real world it works like this. English speaking, Caucasian, heterosexual married couples that attend a Christian church are at the top of the list for placements. However, these are also the families that often have not experienced hardships in their lives, let alone any type of discrimination. That can mean that those families may not be the best choices for children in the foster system whom need a family that understands hardships and knows how to overcome them. In Families Like Ours experience, many state and private agency social workers will place foster, and adopt-foster children with the families best able to support a child, because the family themselves has personal experience overcoming adversity and challenges.
